Restoring the play area to a safe, modern, and engaging space for children of all ages, addressing both structural issues and aesthetic improvements. We were commissioned by Bursledon Parish Council to carry out a comprehensive refurbishment of their local play area, which had become worn and outdated. The site presented multiple challenges: equipment consumable parts were deteriorating, structures required repainting, the surfacing was worn, gates were damaged, and major items such as the swing frames and multi-play unit were reaching the end of their lifespan. Our brief was to restore the play area to a safe, modern, and engaging space for children of all ages, addressing both structural issues and aesthetic improvements. Swipe for more The project delivered a fully revitalised play area, combining high-quality surfacing, modern play equipment, and enhanced safety features. Key elements of the refurbishment included: New Play Equipment: Supplied and installed a bespoke multi-play unit, along with replacement swing frames, offering a fresh, engaging play experience. Surfacing Upgrade: The entire play area was resurfaced using rubber mulch for safety and durability, complemented with our bespoke green EPDM leaf-shaped wear pads to provide a playful, visually appealing touch and extra impact protection around key activity zones. Gates and Access: All existing gates were replaced to improve security and accessibility for children and carers. Consumables and Repairs: Worn or damaged consumable parts were replaced, and existing structures were repainted to restore their appearance and longevity. Site Reinstatement: Areas where old equipment had been removed were carefully reinstated, ensuring a smooth, safe, and cohesive layout throughout the play area. The project required careful planning to ensure the safe removal and replacement of large equipment while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding play area: Equipment Replacement: Swing frames and the multi-play unit required precise installation to meet current safety standards while minimizing disruption to the site. Maintaining Play Area Integrity: Any areas impacted by equipment removal were expertly reinstated, allowing the final site to feel seamless and cohesive. The refurbished Bursledon play area is now a vibrant, safe, and modern space for children to play and explore. The combination of new equipment, refreshed structures, and high-quality surfacing has transformed the site, providing a playground that meets contemporary safety standards and enhances the local community.
